THE BRAND'S IDENTITY
TAGLINE: WHO ARE YOU WITHOUT YOUR WONDER?
Ironically, the tagline wasn't planned. It was discovered during an unexpected detour into illustration. After sitting down one evening to work on a wire frame for my portfolio website, I became entranced by the act of doodling. A week later, a single phrase appeared at the center of the page: Who Are You Without Your Wonder? Ever since, I have been using illustration as my main medium of inspiration towards building Garage Playhouse.
LOGO DESIGN: THREE TIERED EYES
The more I drew, the more my illustrations started speaking back to me. After every session, I'd look at what came out and ask it, "Who are you?" Slowly, a world began to take shape, one rooted in the quiet curiosity I've always had about the human mind. The logo was a natural extension of that: three sets of eyes representing the conscious, subconscious, and unconscious mind.
TYPOGRAPHIC LOGO
With my roots in graphic design, hand-drawing the typography felt instinctive.
The Garage Playhouse wordmark was crafted on an enthusiastic evening in Procreate, and, like the brand itself, no letter is the same. Just like no illustration ever is.
THE ARTIST JOURNEY
2024: FINDING THE LANGUAGE
In the beginning, what little I knew about illustration quickly became my guide. While I didn't fully understand where this spirited desire came from, I knew in my heart that there was no turning back, so I let wonder lead, spending every day doodling, watching characters appear on the page, ideas springing out faster than I could keep up.
Eventually, the page felt too small. I wanted them everywhere and on everything around me. That's when I began experimenting. I designed desk mats, clocks, coasters, blankets, t-shirts, stickers, prints, notebooks, anything you can think of.
2024 became the year of exploration, developing the skills, following the instinct, and creating whatever my heart desired.
2025: TAKING IT TO THE MARKET
As my skills developed, 2025 brought a new question: what next? I had the ideas, the products, the characters, but they were moving faster than I could contain them. It was time to narrow my focus.
What had once felt too big for the page now felt too big for the room. Surrounded by designs, characters, stories, and half-formed worlds, I could feel them pushing to get out. So I listened and Pop-ups became the next outlet.
I shifted through everything I'd made in the experimental phase and carefully curated the first set of products to put into the world: notebooks, tote bags, and prints.
2026: BUILDING THE WORLD
After the initial rush of the pop-ups, a quiet settled in. Something wasn't right. The work was out of the room, but it wasn't telling the story I'd always meant to tell.
It wasn't long before the creatures started giving me a piece of their mind and my focus tunneled. What had been a sprawling world of characters, ideas, and experiments began to sharpen into something intentional. I knew it was time to get the story right and so I began piecing together my first collection titled "Creatures of the Mind: The Stairs of Emotions"
Many evenings since have been spent researching, learning, and giving voice to the characters that have been living in my head for these years. While The full project isn't ready to be revealed yet, in it's stead I offer you a sneak peak into a gallery of pieces / designs made throughout the years.
